Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos is the largest health care institution in Lithuania. Established in 1940 the hospital has grown into one of the most prominent hospitals in the country. Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos provides emergency medical care, in-patient hospital services and outpatient testing and services. The highest quality of health care services is available to patients from all the country and abroad.
Health care is delivered according to European standards, evidence-based medicine is provided by highly qualified medical staff: at present more than 1200 medical doctors and 2500 nursing specialists are working at the Hospital. A total of 35 departments with different clinical profiles are situated in 15 buildings. More than 2000 patients can be treated at inpatient departments at a time. There are 15 departments for outpatient care. In 2009 there were about one million outpatients, 84 000 inpatients, 61 120 surgeries performed in the Hospital.
