At the Cornea Center of Mestre we perform highly specialized diagnosis and therapy of corneal and ocular surface diseases.

Outpatients can reserve a visit calling the reservation center, contacting the number +39041889790

We perform:

  • Deep antherior lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) in patients with keratoconus and corneal opacities that do not involve the endothelium

  • Endothelial lamellar keratoplasty (DSAEK and DMEK) in patients with corneal edema for endothelial decompensation

  • Penetrating keratoplasty (PK)

  • Amniotic membrane graft for ocular surface disease and Stem cell grafts for limbal stem cells deficiency


The Ophthalmic Department has also a highly specialized vitreo-retinal and a Pedriatic ophthalmology Center, has strong links with other departments within the Hospital, including the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Pathology, for analyses based on histological examinations of corneal samples, impression cytology, PCR, etc. Genetic diagnostic tests are also offered to patients with invalidating disorders, such as the EEC syndrome and other genetic disorders of the retina.

We are equipped with surgery and clinical rooms, day hospital, hospitalization units, eye bank for corneal tissue preparation, and a research center with GMP cell factory.
