Biographies

Oriana D’Anna Mardero, MD is an Ophthalmologist in the Pediatrics department at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. She specializes in vitreoretinal diseases, including the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary diseases such as familial exudative vitreoretinopathy. She has the fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology since 2017, and is an active member of “Sociedad Española de Retina y Vítreo”, “Sociedad Española de Oftalmopediatría” and a member of the Retinoblastoma Study Group of “Sociedad Española de hematooncología pediátrica”.

Alejandra Daruich, MD-PhD is a Full Professor in the Ophthalmology Department at Necker-Enfants Malades University Hospital and Paris Cité University in Paris. She is leading expert in pediatric vitreoretinal surgery. Her clinical and research interests focus on pediatric retinal conditions and the development of innovative therapies for retinal disorders.

Elena Vallespín is head of the Molecular Ophthalmogenetics and Neurosensory Pathologies sections at the Institute of Medical and Molecular Genetics (INGEMM) of the University Hospital of La Paz in Madrid. And the secretary of the Spanish Association of Human Genetics (AEGH). Elena holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is accredited by the EMBG (European Board of Medical Genetics) in Human Molecular Genetics. She has more than 100 publications in indexed journals, is principal investigator and associated of several competitive and excellence projects.
