From 4 to 7 September, ERN-EYE took part in the 25th EURETINA Congress, hosted by the European Society of Retina Specialists at the renowned Palais des Congrès in Paris.
As one of the key international events in retinal science, EURETINA 2025 broughts together thousands of professionnals, clinicians, innovators, and experts in the retina field for four days of education, collaboration, and technological breakthroughs.
This year, ERN-EYE shared a booth with SENSGENE, the French network for rare sensory diseases. For this occasion, a special flyer was designed to explain the strong links between our two networks and our shared contributions to this scientific and humain journey towards a better healthcare for patients with rare eye diseases. The booth engaged many visitors interested in learning more about our networks.



Many ERN-EYE members took an active part in the congress, serving session chairs, invited speakers, or attending as participants. Here are just a few highlights of their contributions :
- On 5 September, Pr Elfride De Baere, Pr Camiel Boon, Pr Carel Hoyng and Pr Bart Leroy spoke during a dedicated course on Inherited Retinal Diseases.
- On 6 September, Pr Isabelle Audo and Pr Bart Leroy co-chaired a session entitled “Current Status of Innovative Therapies for Inherited Retinal Disorsders”.
- That same day, Dr Alessia Amato chaired a session focused on the diagnostic challenges of IRDs, with Dr Giancarlo Iarossi contributing as a speaker.
This successful participation one again highlights ERN-EYE’S commitment to advancing knowledge, strenghtening collaborations, and improving care for people living with rare eye diseases.
