Como centro médico universitário, o Hospital Universitário de Ghent também investe em investigação, educação e formação e trabalha em estreita colaboração com a Faculdade de Medicina e Ciências da Saúde da Universidade de Ghent. Este último oferece uma ampla gama de programas de estudo em medicina e ciências da saúde, bem como atividades de pesquisa associadas. A pesquisa na faculdade é muito diversificada, variando desde pesquisa (bio) médica fundamental até pesquisa acadêmica translacional e clínica.
