Purpose of this program

This year, ERN-EYE will award 4 grants to medical trainees, medical specialists, or health professionals who belong to one of the 29 ERN-EYE members and who want to improve their knowledge in the field of rare eye diseases through a short stay in one of another ERN-EYE member HCP (for basic knowledge, for highly specialized knowledge, for specialized techniques, for the use of platforms, to learn specific surgical procedure, etc. …) 

 

Amount and type of grant

ERN-EYE will reimburse travel & accommodation costs for one week exchange up to a ceiling of 1250€

 

Timeline

  • Call for hosts: 1st June -15th June ⇒ NOW CLOSED
  • Call for trainees: 16th June -26th June, extended to 3rd July ⇒ NOW CLOSED
  • Review process: From 26th June to 22th July 2018 ⇒ EXTENDED
  • Results: 13th July, extended to 24th July 2018 
  • Starting date for short exchanges : From 24th July 2018 onwards
  • Limit to start: no later than 1st February 2019

How to apply & Documents to submit for the application for hosts - NOW CLOSED

All applicants should complete his/her application form in English. The overall application includes:

  • The application form for hosts (click to open) including administrative details, dated and signed
  • A letter of approval of the host’s local center for this exchange.
  • A short CV

All these documents should be sent by e-mail to dorothee.leroux@chru-strasbourg.fr no later than the 15th June 2018.

 

 

How to apply & Documents to submit for the application for trainees - NOW CLOSED

All applicants should complete his/her application form in English. The overall application includes:

  • The applicant has to identify a host in the list of ERN-EYE’s HCP that are willing to welcome an applicant, if the applicant wish concerns another site then on the list we cannot guarantee that the application will be possible .
  • The application form for trainees (click to open) including administrative details and a description of the project completed, dated and signed
  • A letter of approval of the applicant’s local center for this exchange, including the statement that his/her salary will be maintain during this short period.
  • A short CV

  • Applicants are employees in one of ERN-EYE full members
  • The host center should be a full member of ERN-EYE.
  • This exchange program is not a way to attend courses, symposia, meetings or congresses
  • This exchange program is on stand-alone, one time basis.
  • This exchange program cannot be used to prolong other exchange program funded by other organization or program

 

Applications evaluation

All applications will be evaluated by a scientific & medical committee, named by the coordinating committee. The proposals will be evaluated on the soundness of the added value for the trainee and the host in the field of rare eye diseases.

 

Payment

The grant will consist in reimbursement (travel and on site costs) upon proofs of payment up to a ceiling of 1250€.

Once awarded the applicant will send us an official paper from his/her bank with the IBAN/SWIFT/BIC codes  and with his/her name and address. Only European accounts are authorized.

 

Short exchange report

If awarded, the trainee engages himself/herself to produce a short report (2 pages) on his/her activities during the exchange program 3 months after his/her return and to present the matter of the exchange briefly during an ERN-EYE meeting if required.

 

Content of the visits

The exchange programme is meant to meet goals and strengthen capacity on the network level. It is not meant for research nor for individual development (though this may be a secondary effect of the exchange programme). The thematic scope includes medical practice and skills but also organisational aspects of a network. These goals and priorities include:

  • geographical scope (priority countries/HCP’s, equal distribution over countries);
  • professional groups (medical specialists, nursing staff, lab staff, others);
  • thematic coverage (clinical aspects, psychosocial support, organisational strengthening)
     

Timeline

The exchange visits will be organised in 3 editions, from March-July 2021, September 2021-December 2021 and April-December 2022.

  • Review process: On a regular basis
  • Results: On a regular basis

Costs and compensation

Ecorys will organise and manage travel arrangements, and provide administrative support for travels, including the provision of tickets, travel insurance and an information kit. Beneficiaries (visitors) will receive an allowance of 200 euro per working day at destination to cover costs of accommodation, food and local transport. Weekend days are not included. Visitors are expected to book their accommodation. Allowances will be wired as lump sum on the first day of the exchange visit, upon confirmation of arrival by the hosting HCP.
