ERN-EYE Consensus Statement meeting for Bardet-Biedl Syndrome

On the 26th and 27th of September, ERN-EYE hosted a Consensus Statement meeting in Strasbourg under the leadership of Pr Dollfus, coordinator of the Bardet-Biedl syndrome consensus statement.

Representatives from all five working groups involved in the development of this consensus statement gathered to discuss and write the consensus statement for Bardet-Biedl Syndrome as it enters in its final phase. This was the first of the ERN-EYE consensus statement to be launched. It is a highly cooperative project that includes participants from four different ERNs (ERNKnet, Endo-ERN, ERN-Ithaca and ERN-EYE). Our deepest thanks to everyone who participated to this meeting, but also to all experts involved in this project, who provided the groundwork necessary to make this meeting a success. 

The development of consensus statements for the care of rare diseases is an important mission of the ERNs as part of their effort to spread knowledge about the care of rare diseases. The Bardet-Biedl consensus statement, while the first, will certainly not be the last!
