How to use the speech recognition tool?
The Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS) was launched by the European Commission (DG SANTE) on Monday, November 20th, 2017. It’s a web-based application where healthcare professionals from the European Reference Networks (ERNs) can discuss real patient cases. This platform aims at supporting ERNs in improving the diagnosis and treatment of rare or low prevalence complex diseases across national borders of Member States in Europe. An eye-specific dataset was developed by the specialists of ERN-EYE in order to meet the needs of ophthalmologists. The latest version was released in the end of 2018.
The CPMS is a secure software that enables health professionals to enroll patients using comprehensive data models. The system will allow for virtual consultation across national borders, ensuring that the needed expertise can travel to the patient, instead of the other way around.
Our colleague Dr Sandra Valeina from Children’s Clinical University Hospital, Riga, Latvia submitted the very first patient case to the virtual eye clinic after the customization of the CPMS. The invited experts gathered in a panel first to review the clinical data and then to discuss the case in a web-based video-conference that is integrated into the system.
