Como centro médico universitario, el Hospital Universitario de Gante también invierte en investigación, educación y formación y trabaja en estrecha colaboración con la Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad de Gante. Este último ofrece una amplia gama de programas de estudio en medicina y ciencias de la salud, así como las actividades de investigación asociadas. La investigación en la facultad es muy diversa y abarca desde la investigación (bio)médica fundamental hasta la investigación académica clínica y traslacional. Los médicos y profesionales de la salud reciben capacitación continua y los investigadores, incluidos los científicos clínicos, estudian muchos enfoques diagnósticos y terapéuticos nuevos.
