Dr Maria Nieves 

Maria Nieves MD, Ph.D., FEBO is a consultant ophthalmologist at the paediatric ophthalmology department at Hospital Universitario La Paz. She was trained in paediatric ophthalmology, retinoblastoma, and adult strabismus at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Royal London Hospital. She presented his doctoral thesis at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2018, obtaining the highest distinction. She is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and has won two competitive national research grants.

 

Dr Marta Morales Ballús

Marta Morales Ballús, MD is an expert in pediatric cataracts, providing with her team of optometrists and ophthalmologists an integral medical and surgical care to babies, infants, children and adolescents. She is the Chief of Department of Ophthalmology in Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona and works together with a group of pediatricians, geneticists and neurologists.
Dra. Marta Morales attended Hospital Clínic Medical School of Barcelona University and completed ophthalmology residency in the Ophthalmology Department of the same Hospital Clinic. She joined the ophthalmology department of Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in 1996 where she developed skills in cataracts and pediatric anterior segment, and retinopathy of prematurity. She has been educational supervisor since 2014 and is the co-Director of a one-year Master of Pediatric Ophthalmology.

Dr Luc Van Os

Luc Van Os, MD, FEBO is senior staff member at the Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium. He was trained in complex adult and paediatric cataract surgery by Prof. Dr. Marie-José Tassignon in the same centre. His focus is on paediatric cataract surgery and inflammatory eye disease. He is a board member of the Belgian Ophtalmological Society (BOG) and Secretary of the Belgian Retina and uveitis Society (BRS).

Dr Sandra Valeina

MD, MSc, PhD, FEBO - paediatric ophthalmologist, head of Eye diseases clinic in Children’s Clinical University hospital in Riga, Latvia from 1997, ERN-EYE LV coordinator.

Dr Una Epnere

MD, MSc - paediatric ophthalmologist, who specialised in aphakic contact lenses for infants with congenital cataract from 1997.

 

Pr Matthieu Robert

Matthieu ROBERT, MD, PhD, FEBO, is Professor of Ophthalmology at Necker-Enfants malades University Hospital in Paris. He is particularly involved in paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and rare disorders, paediatric anterior segment and oculomotor surgery. His fields of research are eye movements development and disorders, and retinal pathophysiology.

He is the author of more than peer-reviewed 60 papers, 30 book chapters and 140 invited lectures. He is a board member of the European Paediatric Ophthalmology Society.
