Healthcare provider: 

The Reference Center for Rare Diseases in Ophthalmology was recognized in 2006

as part of the Rare Diseases Plan 2006-2011, re-labeling in 2017. OPHTARA is

unique consortium part of ERN-EYE with 5 Paris University Hospital sites:   Necker

(Coordinator site), Pitié Salpetrière, HEGP, Cochin and Hôtel Dieu (component sites).

 

OPHTARA Rare Eye Disorders : 1) Diseases of anterior segment ; 2) Diseases of posterior segment; 3) Lacrimal, eyelid and orbit pathologies; 4) Panocular and syndromic diseases

The objectives of the Reference Center:

  • To allow a precise diagnosis by the medical experts in these pathologies.
  • Define the methods of care for patients and their families.
  • Develop research programs on diseases with ophthalmic resonance.
  • Inform patients and families.
  • Define and disseminate referral protocols, in conjunction with the High Authority of Health (HAS) and the National Union of Health Insurance Funds (UNCAM).
  • To be interlocutors for the associations of patients.
